Outfit Cloudy day

Outfit Cloudy day

Good morning guys! The look that I show you today is that I wore for dinner. Denim shorts that you have seen here
combined with my new blouse. I love the blouse! I combined it with my old wedges and my inseparable black bag.
I hope you like the look and see you on Wednesday with another!

Outfit Casual day

Outfit Casual day

Good morning guys! This is the look that I wore to go drink a beer with my boy. The site we chose was far from home so
I wanted to go comfortably. I premiered my new sneakers. I was wearing ripped jeans, fringed blouse and my new
padded bag. I hope you enjoy and see you on Wednesday with another outfit!

One day at a time One thing at a time

One day at a time One thing at a time

Hi there!
Thanks for popping in.
Beautiful sunny day here in the south of England.
The leafy lanes of Kent and Sussex are a wondrous thing
at this time of year.
Mind you!
That pretty much goes for the whole of Britain
when the sun’s out!

Wednesday’s blog, so it’s time to reflect on what’s what,
and get mindful.

Just coming down from a marathon TV weekend.
Seven hours of live TV is no mean feat, I can tell you!
Takes a week to recover!
But once again, it shows me that my way of tackling things one at a time works !
Last week I was dealing with the art prep for the shows,
so I tackled it ONE HOUR AT A TIME.
Which is exactly how I approached the live shows -
ONE AT A TIME.

It’s how I do my housework -
ONE ROOM AT A TIME.

And how I cope with my finances -
ONE BILL AT A TIME.

I can only speak for myself, and you may have it totally sussed,
but when I look ahead at the future,
whether it be the whole weekend of shows,
the next two months of exhibitions,
or the 2017 new year of Clarity and Groovi,
it can get really overwhelming and frightening.

I am prone to anxiety, you see.
Years ago, before I figured out my
ONE DAY ONE THING AT A TIME kinda Life strategy,
I used to get the most terrible chest pains.
It would feel as though somebody had put a metal strap around my chest and was tightening it with a ratchet.
I lived like that for years.
When the chest pains reached a certain pitch,
the panic breathing would kick in, and I would
start snatching for breath and hyperventilating.
If I couldn’t calm my mind down and slow my breathing down,
a full blown panic attack would ensue.
Bloody terrible. And not just for me.
It must have been awful to watch.

So yeah.
I get it. Been there. Not going back if I can help it.

So I look at what needs to be done, and then
screw whatever it is right down to the smallest,
most manageable increment I can handle.
ONE AT A TIME.
Move to the next one, whatever it is.
TICK.
Move to the next one.
TICK.

This is my way of not projecting and fretting
about what’s on my plate.
Let’s face it - I can only eat ONE meal at a time,
so why worry about what’s on the menu all month !!

I used to panic a lot about money and bills too,
which is possibly why I am a workaholic!
I always tried to work my way out of the problem;
still do!!
I still get occasional waves of insecurity around money,
but that’s a human trait I think, and nothing abnormal,
unless you’re minted but think you still need more!

Let’s look at the ONE THING AT A TIME idea from another perspective....

I have wanted to write a book for many years.
But a whole book ???
When’s that going to happen, apart from never ?!

(I love this photo! If you can think of a good caption,
write it below...... )

So what I need to do, and I know it, is tackle a chapter at a time,
or even a page or a paragraph at a time.

My goodness! I have written artbooks galore in the form of a daily blog for the past 3 years!

Do you get what I mean?
Sometimes we look at a project or a dream in its entirety,
and are very quick to surrender to the enormity of the task.

But if we were to break it down into manageable, bitesize pieces, wouldn’t it all become far more feasible?
And the amazing thing that I have found is that when you do that, and you tackle the smaller parts
ONE AT A TIME,
then the larger task which seemed unachievable happens,
despite our fears of inadequacy.

That’ll do for now.
I have a little list of things which need ticking, one at a time,
LIKE PACK !!!!
Before Paul and I go off on our jolly to New York for a few days.
Can’t wait !
Dave is holding the fort while Paul and I go have fun.
I get to see Grace too!

I shall certainly be a-bloggin from the BIG APPLE though -
One day at a time.

Love & hugs.
Barb

OSCON 2008 Day 1

OSCON 2008 Day 1

The first day at OSCON 2008 has come and gone... This year looks to be another good one. Heres what I saw on my first day.

The first session I went to was Python in 3 Hours. While I do most of my work in Ruby, I do try to keep an eye on Python. It seems like a pretty clean scripting language, and quite speedy when compared to Ruby.

The tutorial was good. The material is kinda dry (its language syntax after all, which is pretty hard to spice up). Steve Holdens presentation was clear and well thought out. I walked away feeling like I could approach Python code now without too much fear. However, I still have some pretty mixed feelings about Python... There are a lot of little things that bother me... having to add a self parameter to instance methods, double under bar naming conventions and the whole significant white space thing. At any rate, I though the tutorial was informative.

The second tutorial I did was Making Things Blink: An Introduction to Arduino. This was a lot of fun. I havent played with a microcontroller since college... but Ive always loved working at the place where software meets hardware.

In the session, we worked through coding for Arduino as well as some basic circuits. The class culminated by building an Etch-a-Sketch. This is accomplished by hooking up two potentiometers to the Arduino, which reads the values and passes them to your computer via USB. We then used Processing to read and visualize the data on the screen. This meant that you could turns the knobs on the pots and draw on the screen pretty cool stuff.

Overall, one of the vibes Im getting from the conference this year is big data. How do deal with really big databases and how to process tons of data in parallel. Well see if this continues throughout the conference.

Our First STEM Day The Bubble Bonanza!

Our First STEM Day The Bubble Bonanza!

STEM....Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.......a movement in education that is becoming popular and important.  I was honored to be on the Governors STEM NE Iowa Advisory Council for two years.  During that time, and currently, I look forward to days in which students can explore, create, discover, and analyze learning through STEM activities.  Learning that may not have happened otherwise.

We had our first STEM day involving bubbles.  We called it The Great Bubble Bonanza.  Supplies and lessons for this STEM day were given to 3rd grade through a STEM Scale Up Grant awarded to Crestwood 3rd grade teachers.   Students applied the scientific method and STEM learning to explore what bubbles can and can not do, how to make a wand that makes the smallest bubbles, the largest bubbles, and what materials work best for wands. Many other aspects of bubbles were discussed and explored as well.   It was a fun day that the students really enjoyed, and they came up with some great ideas and learning.

We will be doing STEM activities in 3B at least every other week.  Yeah STEM!!!

One with You Crossfire 5 by Sylvia Day epub

One with You Crossfire 5 by Sylvia Day epub

Description

One with You (Crossfire #5) by Sylvia Day {Ira} [B?] (Size: 484.89 KB)

Gideon Cross. Falling in love with him was the easiest thing Ive ever done. It happened instantly. Completely. Irrevocably.

Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.

We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws ... and all the beauty I couldnt see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.

But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free ... or break us apart.

Heartbreakingly and seductively poignant, One with You is the breathlessly awaited finale to the Crossfire® saga, the searing love story that has captivated millions of readers worldwide.

Menbur. ¿No es bonito? Tenía ganas de un bolso grande en color negro, así que estoy segura que lo veréis mucho por
