On Being a House Cat
On Being a House Cat
How long have we been over here in the house, asked Pawline?
Quite a while I think, perhaps a bit more than a half a month, said Patchtricia.
Yep! I think it is official; were house cats now, said Lamont with conviction. Furthermore, I like it! I like it quit a lot.
I do too
now, added Paw, but wasnt all the sure the first few days. It is a lot different and a lot bigger than the Shackteau. But there have always been lots of places to hide.
I had misgivings about being over here as well, meowed Patch. We were quite accustomed to the Shackteau and now it seems almost a fading memory.
In the Schackteau Meugh (e.d. Catonese for Hugh in case youve forgotten) was with us quit a bit of the day, said Lamont, But now the human servants are around us 24/7. In the Shackteau Mewreen (e.d. Cantonese for Doreen) wasnt a round much. Generally shed just come out in the evening to feeding and pet us. But how shes around all the time. Meugh still takes care of our litter boxes, but she is much more involved with us. And, she has a great lap. I even jump up on it voluntarily now.
There used to be a pizza here :)
I wonder if we will ever find all the places to explore, said Paw. There are many many many places to find and stuff to play with besides our toys.
This whole place is rather like a toy, continued Patch. I love hiding in their clothes and tossing them on the ground. I could do that by the hour.
And we can dash lickety split from one place to the other and slide on the many rugs to our hearts content, purred Lamont. And you can plop yourself down almost anywhere a human servant is present and get tummy rubs. Oh, oh, oh, how we like those tummy rubs! Both Patch and Paw nodded their assent.
I like waking them up at night by jumping on them when their in bed and asleep, add Lamont. You get all types of reactions. I also like to snuggle up to Meugh when he sticks his naked leg out from under the covers. And I love viewed them from the vantage point of the headboard as they purr, or rather snore. I still get a kick out of jumping down of Mewreens head when I get off the headboard.
I counted the other day and we have five beds, said Patch. Three upstairs and 2 downstairs. Official beds that is, we can make anyplace a bed when we feel like it.
I rather like sitting on the dresser in our dining/patio patio room. I think they sometimes think I am an artistic piece of furniture.
I like my death defying catwalks on the rail above the steps, said Lamont. It scare Mewreen to death.
Yep, we are officially house cats, said Paw.
Amen to that, replied Patch and Lamont in two part harmony.
We think there is a small elephant hiding here

Om Swami Thrown Out Of Bigg Boss House After Latest Public Peeing Incident!
Om Swami Thrown Out Of Bigg Boss House After Latest Public Peeing Incident!
The highly controversial TV reality show Bigg Boss is again news and here at CRB Tech Reviews we share the inside story. This episode saw how Swami Om has been kicked out of the house, something which could have been done previously.

On various occasions, Swami was seen damaging property of the house and for physical during the tasks. This time he just went ahead of all the limits.
The self-proclaimed godman has constantly irked the contestants and the show host Salman Khan but also the ardent viewers of the show. When we thought that nothing could be worse than Swami peeing on a national television, here is another disgusting act by this man. Swami Om threw pee on his fellow contestants Bani J and Rohan Mehra.
Finally Bigg Boss will not ignore his dirty antics. He is shown the exit gate and thrown out of the house for his ugly act. A source from the Colors confirmed that Swami has been thrown out of the Bigg Boss house for his ugly act. All the contestants were upset and Rohan and Bani lost control over his pathetic behaviour. But they somehow calmed down after a while.
In desperation to be captain of the house Swami always went overboard. And now, when he was so close to the throne, he decided to cross his limits. It so happened that Bigg Boss announced the captaincy task where Bani and Swami have to make a pyramid with blocks. The other contestants had the liberty to support their candidate for captaincy and tried to topple the blocks of their opponent. The entire house decided to support Bani for captaincy and threw balls at Swamis blocks.
Seeing the entire house turned against him, Swami did pee a glass and threw Bani and Rohan to keep himself in the game. Both Bani and Rohan were taken aback by Swamis act and Bani retaliated by kicking the Swami. Rohan too was out of control and pulled Swami into the jail.
Other contestants stood by Rohan and Bani and demanded strict action against the godman. And this is when Bigg Boss took the big decision of throwing Swami out of the house. But the drama didnt end.
The shameless Swami refused to leave the house. When the makers of the show failed to get him out of the house, they took the help of the security to get the Swami out.
Previously, on several occasions, Swami was spared by Bigg Boss with warnings. But this time the makers also realised that Swami is not only bringing down the TRPs, but he is also taking away the viewers of the show.
We conclude with this. Keep looking into this space by CRB Tech Reviews for more updates.

Our New House The Real Estate Photos
Our New House The Real Estate Photos
*In case you missed Mondays post...we bought a house! Catch up on the details over here.*
I dont know about yall, but I LOVE stalking looking at real estate listings. Theres something so fun to me about virtually touring other peoples homes. Interior design and home blogs provide the same sort of thrill, but theyre typically edited to showcase only the pretty stuff. Real estate photos, on the other hand, can be amazing, but they can also be downright awful. Youd think that the seller would want to have great photos to show the house off in the best way possible so the it sells quickly for asking price, right? Theres a reason home staging and real estate photography are whole industries in and of themselves!
And yet...sometimes you find yourself looking at photos like the ones that were on our houses listing that leave something to be desired. Lets just say that it didnt show very well :). The house sat on the market for awhile and Im thinking these photos might have had something to do with it.
Want to see the house as we saw it for the first time?
Lets start at the front, shall we? Hello weeds! Our house is the one in the middle you can barely see with the front porch and very brightly lit second level.

In through the front door, you enter the living room. With all that furniture lining the walls and the lack of light, it looks cramped and sort of dungeon-like. The people who lived here before us sadly never opened their blinds - theres actually a good bit of natural light on this floor!

Heading into the dining room...
Nothing like crooked photos to make it look like the house might be falling over, right? I promise its not. I cant wait to show yall photos of this space soon. Its changed SO much in the past couple of weeks!

The kitchen is a great size, but unfortunately, the folding table and hanging pots make it look cramped and small.

Now were off to the second level. This is the back bedroom with the unusual furniture placement. I think they used it as an office and tv watching room of sorts.

This is the middle bedroom. Ill be honest, those pig cut outs and animal masks totally freaked me out the first time I saw them. Creepy, arent they? Yikes.

The infamous purple bathroom. Enough said.

And lastly, the master bedroom. This room has changed a ton as well. Its amazing what new flooring, paint and a new light fixture will do!

So thats the real estate photo house tour! Now tell me, if these were the photos you saw of the house, would you have gone to see it in person? Would you have bought it?
When I walked into the house for the first time, I knew it had great bones and incredible potential, but knew it was going to take some work to get there. Its already come a long way! More updates to come soon!

Outlander at Wilton House
Outlander at Wilton House
Ive been suffering from, Droughtlander, but it is almost over now that the second season of the Starz TV Series Outlander will FINALLY premiere on April 9. While last season was all about rainy, freezing, and gray Scotland, this season is Paris as in 18th century Paris.
Heaven!
Instead of drab stone interiors in Scottish castles, the show is now all gilt and crystal and silks and satins. The previews of Outlanders Parisian sets look luscious.
No, we arent in merry ol Scotland anymore. Here, Claire and Jamie are shown on their way to a ball at Versailles and they couldnt look any more gorgeous.
Ill be blogging about the beautiful sets especially since Im so excited about Outlanders Parisian settings. But Hollywood isnt always what it seems.
While Outlanders Season 2 is set in Paris, the filming of interiors actually was done on the Scottish soundstage and for exteriors in Prague. Some Scottish castles and gardens filled in for Versailles, including the famous Drummond gardens and the fabulous Wilton House.
Wilton House & The Palladian Bridge:
You are probably familiar with Wilton House through the artist Rex Whistler and his friend Edith Olivier. Edith lived at Daye House which was actually on the Wilton House Estate. And Whistler visited often his paintings (above) of the house and its famous bridge are legendary.
Edith Olivier shown in front of Wilton Houses Palladian Bridge. Olivier is the one who found nearby Ashcombe for her friend, society photographer Cecil Beaton, to rent. And Beaton was a long-time friend of the Pembrokes, the family who has lived at Wilton House for over 400 years.
Note: Last year I wrote a story about Beaton and later, Madonna, at Ashcombe HERE.
But if you arent familiar with Wilton House through the Beaton/Rex Whistler connection, you probably will recognize it through Hollywood the house has starred in numerous movies and cable shows.
If you have seen a few of the following movies, then you have been to Wilton House: The Music Lover, Barry Lyndon, Scandal, The Madness of King George, Sense & Sensibility, Mrs. Brown, The Young Victoria, The Crossing, and any number of TV shows in Britain like The Antique Roadshow. That Outlander would choose to film at Wilton House is no surprise. It just makes the anticipation of the new season all that more exciting.
Why Wilton House? Its not the biggest house in England, like Blenheim, nor is it the grandest like Chatsworth, and it is not the most famous like Althorp. Yet, critic after critic cite Wilton House with its stunning art collection and its gardens as one of their favorite estates.
It should be no surprise that Outlander chose to film there its main drawing room is drop dead gorgeous and it can certainly fill in for Versailles even though it is located in Salisbury, a hop, skip and jump from Stonehenge.
Wilton House has been the seat of the Earl of Pembroke for over 400 years. The estate was originally a priory in 871, funded by King Egbert the remains of this early monastery were uncovered during recent renovations. Later, King Alfred added land to the priory, making it very wealthy and powerful. In the 12th century it became a Benedictine Abbey and in 1544, King Henry VIII seized it, awarding it to William Herbert, the 1st Earl of Pembroke.
Today, the 18th Earl, William Herbert, lives on the estate with his wife and three children. Wilton House, once over 60,000 acres, today now has 14,500 acres, 140 employees, 14 farms, and 200 residential properties. In 1983 1/3 of the estate became a charitable trust which helps to insure its survival. Today, the family actually has to pay rent to live in the private section!
William Herbert, The First Earl of Pembroke (love his mini bubble skirt!!!) was noted for his fierce temper and hot-headed nature. His first wife was Anne Parr, sister of Catherine Parr the sixth wife of King Henry VIII. Herbert was knighted after his sister-in-law married the King, who then gave him Wilton Abbey along with other lands, which he had seized.
Here the 14th Earl dressed up as the 1st Earl in a very similar mini bubble skirt!
The current 18th Earl of Pembroke is known as Right Honorable, the 18th Earl of Pembroke, the 15th earl of Montgomery, Baron Herbert of Cardiff, Baron Herbert of Shurland and Baron Herbert of Lea. Whew.
He inherited the title in 2005, when he was just 25, still single and very lonely; he was even scared at night to be living in the huge house alone. To keep him company, he bought a dog, Tate, a deerhound named for his great-great grandfather who started Tate Gallery.
The current Earl, Will, as he is known by his friends. Official portrait by Adrian Gottlieb HERE.
When Will became the Earl, he also became Englands most eligible bachelor. He talked of his need for a wife and a male heir in the few interviews he gave. Model handsome, it didnt hurt that he was also, overnight, worth more than $15o million.
Wilton House & the Bridge.
Will & his wife.
Wills father, the 17th Earl, had started a very large and important restoration project and the current Earl, along with his wife, an interior designer, have continued the work, for which they have won numerous awards.
The renovation includes new gardens and the complete restoration of the Inigo Jones South Front. All the state rooms are also being restored, and so is the Dining Room which was singled out for several prestigious awards.
Through the years, many of the Earls and the Countesses have been exceptional people architects, artists, and philanthropists. The family was enormously wealthy and they were friends and patrons to the finest of the Renaissance: Philip Sidney, Walter Raleigh, Shakespeare, John Donne, George Herbert, Inigo Jones, Isaac de Caus and van Dyck are but a few names associated with the Pembrokes.
Whew!!!! Amazing!!!!
In more recent times, during both world wars, the house was used as a military hospital and during WWII, Eisenhower planned the D-Day invasion with Churchill at Wilton House. The family has had a long association with the royals. Prince Charles attended a house party that honored the birth of the current Earl (he was the much anticipated heir born after three older sisters.) His father, the 17th Earl, was a film director and producer and even dated Princess Diana in between marriages!!
The present Earl is quite an interesting man he collects vintage and race cars and each year he spends 10 months planning a large, world class auto event at Wilton. He also hosts all sorts of events such as horse trials and antique fairs. He was a published designer known as Will Herbert - at Conran & Partners - before he inherited his title and he truly has an artistic eye. He loves photography and collects antique cameras. He says he lives in about 1/3 of the house and is lucky to do so. Many others with these historic houses use the small back apartments. And he says he lucky to be able to heat the house, another luxury. Many people freeze in large houses, but he has heat and lots of fireplaces. He says he loves to cook and he loves to wear blue jeans. Hes as normal as you and me!!
The house. The red circle shows the romantic and very beautiful Palladian bridge on the River Nadder. It was built on an axis to the front entrance of the house. Wilton House is a large square with 4 connecting wings which create an internal courtyard.
The Palladian Bridge over the River Nadder is world famous. The bridge was used in outdoor scenes when Outlander filmed its Season Two at Wilton House.
Another view of the bridge with a huge Cedar of Lebanon shown on the left.
