Oh Joy!! A special Ink Pad Offer with a free brush!
Oh Joy!! A special Ink Pad Offer with a free brush!
Hi there!
Thanks for popping in on Inky Tuesday.
Today is when we take a look at all things inky.
As you may know, we were at Ally Pally this weekend.
We put together a pack of the new Artistry ink colours which I particularly like, and which to my mind, are a great starting place.
It was very interesting.
Although all 48 colours were available there,
customers preferred to go with the recommended packs.

Was it because the price was better?
Was it because there was a free Clarity brush in every pack?
Or was it because they just couldnt decide ???
Here are the 9 colours I put in the set:
Mellow Green
Lime Kiss
Orange Popsicle
Cranberry Crush
Old Parchment
Cotton Candy
Midnight Blue
Aqua Fusion
Morning Dew
So let me take Midnight Blue,
Old Parchment and Aqua Fusion,
and show you how they work together.

This is such a lovely stampset!
JOY

In fact, Paul Church will be showcasing it on TV this weekend:
Sunday 25th, HOCHANDA at 5pm.
He has got 3 hours live that day: 11am / 2pm / 5pm.
Stamp the Beautiful Clarity JOY stamp onto a small piece of our Stencil Card, using Black Archival ink.

Stamp the Beautiful Clarity JOY stamp onto a small piece of our Stencil Card, using Black Archival ink.

Add the birdhouse in the centre,

and the birds.

Cut out a mask.

Cover up the centre.

Using a blending mat underneath,
start working Midnight Blue into the night Sky.
I am using the little baby inkpads.
My big ink pads are on the van,
all ready to go to Leyburn Open Day this Saturday!

Blend the Aqua Fusion into the blue.
The combination is excellent -

especially when tied together with Old Parchment.

Remove mask and then decide whats next...

Mask the outside this time and add a background in the middle.
Mini Moon required....

Heres where I get mine from!!!
Spots mask
A moon for every occasion!!!

Great colours, but needs zesting up a bit....

Cover up the middle and flick a little bleach at it!
Caution: Not for the faint-hearted,
the I-craft-on-the-dining-room-table types
or the posh dressers!

Run a black Sharpie pen around the edges, to tie in the JOY

Mount on white card, and add FOREVER from a word chain.

JOY FOREVER.

Time to go baste the lamb.
Sunday roast on Tuesday.
Why not ???
Dave just came skipping into the artroom,
Ive got the peas to go with the lamb !! he chirped.
Its the little things in life, innit....
Love & hugs,
Barb

Am I pooped today!
Tried to have a day off and couldnt even rustle up the energy to buy anything at John Lewis!
(You KNOW its bad when I leave JLs empty handed! ).
On Sunday, whilst we were having fun at Crafters Companion flagship store in Newton Aycliffe,
Paul was having fun on Hochanda.
Paul was having fun on Hochanda.
(If you missed any of the shows, you can watch again on catchup via the Hochanda website. Paul was on at 11am, 2pm & 5pm)
Didnt he do well?!?
This is one of the demos he did during the 5pm show, using the
Joy Frame & Birdsong Unmounted Stamp Set,
together with a selection of the Artistry Ink Pads
together with a selection of the Artistry Ink Pads

Lets go through it, shall we?
Take a piece of A5 Theuva Card and dust with some talcum powder
(this will stop the embossing powder sticking where it shouldnt!)
Stamp with Black Archival ink and sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder over the image.
Tap off the excess powder and then using a heat gun, heat from underneath on a slow setting until the embossing powder melts.

Stamp out the Joy stamp onto a sheet of copy paper,
and then cut out the centre of the O.

When cutting, make sure that you cut into part of the O
By doing this, it means that if you do not line it up perfectly,
you wont get a shadow.
you wont get a shadow.

Now take a selection of the Artistry Ink Pads.
Paul went with Golden Turmeric, Blushing Rose and Blaze.
Lay the mask you have created over the stamped image and tape it into place. Position a tiny moon/sun mask inside the O
Load up a stencil brush with blaze and sweep the colour backwards
and forwards in the top half of the O.
and forwards in the top half of the O.
Repeat with the Blushing Rose in the bottom half of the O
This will give you a base coat.

Take a makeup sponge and the Golden Turmeric and blend the Blaze and Blushing Rose.

Remove the moon/sun mask and use the brush with the Blaze. Gently sweep over it to take away the whiteness.
Now lets create a little scene using some of the smaller stamps in the set.

Once you are happy with your design,
remove the mask and trim the card down.
remove the mask and trim the card down.
Take a ruler and Micron pen and draw 3 lines.
The C-Thru ruler makes it very easy to do this as the lines on the ruler are a perfect guide.

Using the low-tack masking tape, mask off the first border.
Take a make up sponge and Blaze ink pad and apply the colour, repeat with the Golden Turmeric to tone down the red to create the same tone within your image.

Repeat with the second border, this time using the Blushing Rose and then the Golden Turmeric.
Before mounting onto a 6x6 or 8x8 card blank,
use the ink that is still on your brushes
to apply shade and colour to the background.

All ties in nicely.

Time to have a little siesta....
in readiness for Poldaaaark tonight!
(recorded, so dont spill the beans!!)
I reckon George is just about to get his comeuppance.
The servant (Taint fair, taint friendly), who was killed, but then miraculously came back to life, is SURELY going to sober up long enough to identify his would-be murderer!!
Dont tell me!! I am livin it!!!
Love & hugs,
Barb
