Oh we do like to be beside the seaside
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside
Hi there!
Greetings from sunny Brighton.
December the 29th, and what a glorious day!
Everyone and his brother went to the coast darn sarf today!
And why wouldnt you ?
And why wouldnt you ?
It was beautiful,
the sun was warm on your face, but the air was icy cold.
Parked right along the waterfront and walked miles.
Mark, his lovely girlfriend Alex and I spent the day together.
Fish & chips on the pier.
Then we dived into the Lanes,
bobbing and weaving through the throngs of happy shoppers,
all looking for those post-Christmas bargains....
Personally, I couldnt be bothered.
I did find a very cool jacket for Dave,
but Ive had enough of shopping to last me at least a year.
I was much more impressed with the super excellent Christmas lights! Arent they brilliant?!
I do like Brighton.
I love the architecture. Its all those Victorian balconies I like.
Dont these two make a handsome couple?
It was a shame that Grace and Nick missed Brighton
and the glorious sunshine.
But New York was a-calling....
And before you knew it,
the sun was setting and the sky was perfect.
Look Mum! said Mark, It looks just like your brayer artwork
Now how many 24 year old lads do you know
who know what a brayer is?
So we wandered back along the waterfront,
waved goodbye to the Pier,
and came home to a tasty piping hot Cottage Pie
I had prepared earlier.
I have been full of gratitude today.
After the traumatic news of Carrie Fishers death and her poor mum Debbie Reynolds death just a day later,
what else is there except gratitude?
I am grateful Dave is so well this year.
I am grateful to have spent so much time with my parents
and kids this Christmas.
I am grateful I dont do drugs or drink.
I am grateful my kids arent tormented by drugs or drink.
It guarantees nothing, but it certainly reduces the probability of a premature exit.
And as I walked along the waterfront today,
it just felt good to be alive and sober.
Until tomorrow...
Love & Hugs,
Barb

One Last Thing Before We Go
One Last Thing Before We Go
Before leaving the island we knew we wanted to do Dining in the Dark at Formaggio Grill in Kailua one last time. This time we really did it right by getting a big group together so we had the room to ourselves. First we put our blindfolds on and they lead us in.

Sit us down.

I made sure I had my protective napkin in place.

And as usual you start with the silverware.

But eventually you just move onto hands.

Oh Dee we do like to be beside the seaside!!!
Oh Dee we do like to be beside the seaside!!!
Hi there
Thanks for popping in.
Just got in from a day with my mate Dee.
It was just what the doctor ordered.
A morning of crafting together - now THATS something we havent done for a while!
It was so enjoyable, working together, chatting away,
catching up.
Shes a good egg. And a very astute one, too.
It was good to run some stuff by her and get her honest opinion.
Shes a straight shooter; says it as it is.

Then after lunch with a view, it was time to take Sam for a walk.

What a glorious beach!

And what a lovely little pal Sam is.

Hes a Jack Russell - Chihuahua cross.
Smashing little dog.

Far from the madding crowd...

Just us, Sam and a pebble beach.

Sam. aka Frisbee nut.

So Ive come home tired but happy.
And thinking about our dogs, Dutchie and Duke.
Our two black labs.
Miss them greatly since they went off to Rainbow Bridge,
and often say to Dave how good it would be to have a dog again. Or two.
But hes right. With the lifestyle we lead, the run around,
it wouldnt be fair on the animals.
And Romeo the old cat
would have a fit if dogs suddenly pitched up!
But down the road a little perhaps.....
Time to stop and sit in the garden.
Enjoy this glorious weather.
Dont forget to leave an uplifting comment below,
to be in with a chance to win that fabulous artwork from Dee,
with the £20 gift voucher inside!
She even made a special envelope for it....
Love and hugs
Barb
